It is a great combination of: price, amount of light, hours of usable light, easy to find batteries and small size. Yes, there are brighter lights out there that use a single AA, but they cost wayyy more.The good: a) Light output is a decent 35 lumens. Brighter than a 2AA regular bulb Maglite, but not quite as intense as the 2AA LED Maglite. b) Uses a tail cap switch, great for one-hand operation. c) Just on and off functions. No blink or dim or etc. To me, this is just fine. Sometimes multiple functions just "get in the way". d) Has a several small lanyard holes. e) Comes with a pocket clip which can clip on a hat brim for a headlamp. At first I gave this feature little credit, but have found it to be extremely useful when no one else can help hold a light! f) The rubber cover on the tail cap switch glows in the dark (after being exposed to light). g) Lasts for at least 6 continuous hours on a single AA... I picked up my first Nebo CSI Edge at a hardware store as an extra for a car. The revelation came when I actually used it. 35 lumens is great for in-vehicle use, the metal case with its tactical rim can break a glass window or be an adjunct in defense. The end-cap button is secure. It has O-rings for watertightness. While the cap "glows" in the dark, this will not happen if you store the unit in a console or glove box. The clip is oriented so that it will direct the light forward from a position on a ballcap. It makes a great EDC or simple backup for a Fenix TA/TK or similar, but the optics are designed to diffuse the beam, so that it is not a valid a far-field light. If it ran on a CR123 instead of a AA battery, and had a variable focus, this light would be four times the cost. They are priced nicely on Amazon...BUT you do not get a volume saving on shipping. So if you buy one for X dollars, and shipping is Y dollars, you spend N(X+Y) when you buy N number...
